La Mamounia Luxury Palace Couple Photos in Marrakech | Morocco

I have written many times about Marrakech, the red (or rather pink) city. It's a place you either love or hate. One of the riches gems of this city are secret palaces, riads and gardens hidden in the chaos of the streets, where a completely different rhythm of life flows, you can enjoy the wonderful Arab or Berber architecture, birdsong, smells and the sight of plants.

One of these places really worth the visit or stay is La Mamounia - the best hotel in the world according to Conde Naste.

When my clients invited me to photograph their romantic engagement session at La Mamounia, I was delighted.

The history of La Mamounia is as fascinating as the hotel itself. Situated on the edge of the walls of the old city of Marrakech, La Mamounia is named for its 200-year-old gardens.

Winston Churchill called it "the most lovely spot in the whole world." He spent many winters at La Mamounia painting the Atlas Mountains and surrounding countryside.

La Mamounia has also played a starring role in the making of many movies. "Morocco" with Marlene Dietrich was filmed there, as was Alfred Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much". Photos from the films adorn the walls of some of the corridors of the hotel. According to our hosts at La Mamounia, Hitchcock got his idea for the movie "The Birds" while staying at the hotel, when he opened his balcony door and was startled by pigeons.

On that March sunny day with my wonderful Indian-Colombian couple we started the session with the Mamounia’s most iconic white room with columns. Over time, we moved to the garden and other rooms that delight with their design and colors.

Just see what a beautiful effect we managed to achieve together thanks to their kindness, openness and relaxed atmosphere.
